MANUFACTURERS OF DETAILED DIECAST MOTORCYCLES

New-Ray make a range of affordable 1:6 scale motorbikes, which look great in any collection. They also make 1:12 scale that are on par with Maisto’s range, and a very nice, but limited range of 1:32 scale bikes, which I must admit have become some of my favourite bikes because of the detail, affordability and presentation of the models in hard plastic display case and nicely detailed boxes.

The 1:32 scale motorbikes can be picked up for as little as 99p. The 1:12 scale start at about £6 and the 1:6 scale seem to be about the £20 mark. All these prices will depend when and where you buy the bikes from and whether or not they are new or second hand.

Most Diecast manufactures make Honda’s flagship motorcycle, the Honda Goldwing, and New-Ray are no exception. They make a 1:12 scale Honda Goldwing GL1500 Aspencade

New-Ray’s 1:6 scale Ducati 998 in bright yellow really stands out from the crowd. Detail is excellent on this machine that measures 35cm long and 18cm high.

There are not many manufactures that make custom bikes, apart from Ertl that now do the Orange County Chopper series in 1:18 and 1:10 scale. Before this New-Ray had some basic looking choppers.

Triumph motorbike models are now available from most diecast manufacturers, and New-Ray do a great range of 1:12 scale models. These bikes are 17.5cm long and 10cm high. Overall detail is good and the bike feels good quality, with working rear suspension, steering, rubber tyres and side stand.

New-Rays custom chopper bikes are better detailed than their basic custom bikes, but still don't match other manufacturers detail.
